Adoption is a topic of discussion that will always be close to my heart and one that feeds the souls of many. Although sometimes the topic of adoption can come from a sad and broken place, it can be a fulfilling, compassionate, selfless and beautiful act. I personally believe that adoption is…
This was great. I feel like just advocating for or even partaking in an adoption is such an important factor in being an active participant in one’s local community and, more generally, the world community. More recently, I feel like the importance of ownership has been elevated to an alarmingly unhealthy point where, like Kaylee said, it becomes a social taboo to even begin the process of adoption, whether it be a family pet from a shelter, or more pertinently, a child who deserves far more than to be simply pitied by other couples who have been able to conceive. Many adoptive parents go out of their way to share their means and affection with children who would have otherwise been at risk of growing up without either of those things; thus, the adoptive process, like the title suggests, fosters a truly loving and self-sacrificing relationship that benefits and sustains both parent(s) and child, as well as the individual communities where the child came from and where he or she will eventually be raised.
